Dee Schaad has been teaching at the University of Indianapolis in Indiana since 1975 and is is currently Chairman of the Department of Art
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Nebraska, Kearney and an MFA from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
He has exhibited widely in the region and is the recipient of many awards for his ceramics. His clay pieces vary from functional works such as dinnerware, beautifully glazed platters, and funky stemed goblets, to wall hung and free standing sculptural works.
He is on the Board of Directors of the National Council of Ceramics Education and played a major role in the planning when the University hosted their conference in 2004.
He has recently been honored as one of the receipients of the prestigious Indiana Artist Renewal grants.
